The classes are led by Penelope Henderson. She is a qualified Home Economist and Nutritionist. In addition she holds an enhanced DBS, holds a basic food hygiene certificate and 5 star food hygiene rating and has trained in first aid for children. Penelope is a mum of two who is passionate about home cooking and nutrition.
Class structure (2.5 -5yr olds)
Different theme each term e.g simple non cooked foods, fruits and vegetables, baking, pastry
Classes last one hour with a different theme each term
New recipe each week with a focus on a particular cooking skill to get children familar with equipment and build their confidence with a particular skill. Recipes are nutritionally balanced, simple for young children to make and can be replicated at home.
Classes will include a food related activity such as drawing ingredients and talking about where foods come from or jigsaws as well as making a small food to try or take home.
Classes are small, relaxed and fun for children in a safe environment. Parents can help and enjoy classes too with their children and get a recipe to take home afterwards.
The first three classes are £15 and then costs £6.50 per class afterwards. This includes the cost of the ingredients and a small sample of what you have made to try or take home each week.
